Hungarian Steel Helmet - OLIVE DRAB - European Military Surplus

I purchased this helmet for a theater piece. I didn't want to spend much money, so the price tag was appealing. I am very pleased with it. It should be noted to those wondering about the size that the internal adjustment straps, though very simple, are ingeniously designed and help get a good, snug fit. I did write with questions about the sizing, and the folks at Military Uniform Supply were very helpful in answering my questions. Again, I am delighted with the product and company. The liner looks new, the outer surface has some scratches either from transporting or from usage. Either way I like it The main issue is the size, it is too small for my head and sits on top of it like a party hat.

So I bought this because of the attractive price tag and equally attractive history and perks. I was worried it’d come in crappy condition but it actually came in pretty decent (good) condition. The only things I would say about it are the strap adjustment is particularly torn off but it’s still useable and I sorta dislike the glossy finish due to how easy it is to smudge it but that’s just the helmet. It had some black substance on it but it was easily removed with a wet paper towel. One more thing, this is easily one of the most comfortable helmets I’ve worn, another review stated it running small but it fit me just right, I am a 7 5/8 hat size so there’s that. I love almost everything about it (other than it’s shoddy glossing) but it’s still worth the price. I’ve had bad experiences with replica helmets in the past so I figured I’d just get an authentic surplus helmet, I ain’t disappointed one bit. I recommend this helmet for display or a costume or even airsoft if you feel like it.

If you have a small head it's kinda cool. BUT, yes Hungarian Helmets do come in different sizes, you just can't find the large ones anymore. I gave mine to a friend with a smaller head and they love it. My guess is you need to be a size 7 or smaller to enjoy this helmet. Great for kids, I guess.
